MARLEY AND ME

I've firmly made up my mind that this post is not gonna be a movie review.

This movie is definitely a tribute and a must watch for all pet owners, current and former alike.

This is the only movie so far that has moved me to tears, Agreed, THE PURSUIT OF HAPPYNESS was equally scintillating but this movie had that extra something that moved me to tears. guess animals have that thing with people. this movie is a perfect example of the unconditional love u are entitled to when u own a pet. the last few scenes which show marley dying really moved me as i could relate back to the times i owned a pet. yup, when i was small, i owned a german shepherd by the name of NANCY. she died at the age of 8 cos of liver failure. we had to move to kolkata at that time and couldnt take her along. so when my grandpa called up to inform of her demise, all i could do was sit on the sofa and cry away silently, so silent that even my mom and dad never knew i was cryin until they saw the tear stains on the sofa. anyways after watchin the movie today, i got all nostalgic.i know that i've never been a good bro to nancy. i let her die alone but i couldnt help it, fate separated us. but that's not a reason. i know i've not done justice to u. am really sorry, love u nancy.

DESTINY

One thing i noticed about me was that ever since i was young, nothing came easy to me. No its not about home, i've got the most supportive parents anyone could ever wish for. its about my life.

Anything and everything i did in my professional life, be it college or cricket was never complete without an initial period of struggle. And it hasn't stopped, it still seems to be going that way. Whenever i start something new, something fresh, there's this initial period where i seem to be cruising and then suddenly someone or something comes and spoils the fun. I undergo so much mental stress and then all of a sudden, things fall into place and it seems as if there was no storm at all.

well guess that's how my life is. A period of struggle followed by a sudden rush of luck and performance, almost makes me feel like a phoenix rising from the ashes.

At times i've wondered, why does it always have to happen only to me. there are so many people out there who seem to get everythin easy. But then i realise that with each struggle i face, i just become stronger.

I am not someone to be bogged down by such failures but at times, i do wonder, why me and why all the time. Well guess that's how god has written my destiny. But he's been kind enough to reward me with success after every struggle. So i guess everything is gonna end well.

The phoenix waits in the wings, waiting to rise once again.

POST MORTEM

Ha finally, its feels great to be back to the blogosphere. a few days off of it jus gave me enough time to reflect on where it all went wrong.. cos, of the last few posts, a majority have been SMS PICKS..
anyways, the little post mortem i conducted revealed that one of the reasons i decided not to blog for sometime was my stupid computer that doesnt allow me to install the latest INTERNET EXPLORER browser on which BLOGGER works seamlessly. the fully updated MOZILLA FIREFOX browser that i use normally has some stupid misunderstanding with my blogger dashboard homepage(it always gets redirected to some other page!!!) so now am stuck with blogging on a very old version of IE.. :S
anyways, the major reason for me not blogging was that i've been held up with other important stuff(read practise, gymming and my 2 yr old cousin bro :D ). but am happy now cos since i am out of home most of the time, i've to some exent got rid of my online addiction(be very clear, blogging doesn't qualify as an addiction to me.. ;) )
anyways, its great to be back here, back to penning down my thoughts. but if u observe well, u'll realise that there was nothing really substantial in this post. it was jus a faint attempt by yours truly to get back into the groove. i promise, my coming posts will be a better read,,
until next time,

MOVIE REVIEW: SINGAM

EVERYBODY LISTEN, LISTEN.. MAKE WAY FOR THE KING!!! goes the background score as Suriya makes his appearance on screen. What a choice of movie for a 25th film, wow, hats off, u've got to give the guy credit for choosing a genre that has come under the scanner now, thanks to vijay of course. :P yeah that's rite, director hari and actor suriya seemed to have pulled the rabbit out of the hat cos this one is surely one helluva movie. hats off guys. great work.

The movie does have its LOOK IN THE AIR, ITS A BIRD, ITS A PLANE, NO ITS SURIYA!!! moments but they get overshadowed by the sheer brilliance of the script, the screenplay and suriya's brilliant acting. Devi Sri Prasad has done a godd job with the background score and songs. Credit should be given for the slick editing that keeps the movie moving at a brisk pace, never for once slackening. Anushka sizzles in her part and so does Prakash raj, pulling off another brilliant performance. Vivek is outstanding as head constable erimalai, leaving the audience in splits scene after scene. But the star of the show has to be Suriya, excelling in his role as Duraisingam. outstanding.

This movie is definitely one for both the classes and the masses, surely a super hit. Kudos!!!!!
My Rating: 4.5/5.

An out and out entertainer.. :)

Until next time,
Adios!!!!

MOVIE REVIEW:HOUSEFULL

With an impressive line up of talented actors, this movie was expected to set the cash registers ringing. But sajid khan seems to have gone distastrously wrong with the plot ending up with something that doesnt even come close to satisfying the LAUGH RIOT tag it carries.

Guess Sajid khan ended up watchin too many movies while writing this movie's script cos there are so many scenes that seemed to have been borrowed from english, hindi and tamil(there could be a lot more :P ) movies. hell, its so difficult to list the movies, there are so many of them.
here's just a few.

1. the monkey slapping scene which is an unabashed copy of the scene between DEXTER( a capuchian monkey) and LARRY DALEY(Ben Stiller) in "NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM"

2.K Jo style gay jokes during the 2nd half which after a point of time gets on ur nerves. so lame.

3. last but not the least, the entire plot is a rip off of a yesteryear tamil superhit, KAADHALA KAADHALA(not sure of the name but it had kamal, prabhu deva, soundarya and rambha in the lead roles) with kamal in the lead which was a blockbuster(probably akshay kumar should consult some of his tamilian friends before he signs a movie, cos of late, almost all have been rip offs of kamal haasan films, first KAMBAKHT ISHQ, now HOUSEFULL and the sad thing is, he thinks they are all original stories)

The movie, too be frank is pretty lame. Boman Irani(as Batuk Patel) and
Chunkey Pandey(as Aakhri Pasta) do their best to irritate you with their loud banter that are supposed to pass off as dialogues. The characters of santa and banta in the end are disgusting, god knows what sajid was thinking when he wrote the script. y do u have to embarass indians like this.

Jiah khan's role in the movie, though important, offers her no scope at all. her total screen time in the movie is approx 18 seconds, 10 seconds of which go off in a slow motion shot off her walking down the beach in a bikini. pretty lame jiah, u could have easily passed off the role to some junior artiste instead of embarrassing yourself in a role that doesnt even qualify as a cameo. :P

The only saving grace of the movie was off course Deepika's on screen presence(oh i jus love her!!!). The others have also done their part well, akshay kumar, riteish deshmukh, lara dutta and arjun rampal(must add, he was brilliant as Major Krishna Rao) all chipping in with fine performances but there was little they could do with a script as mundane as this.

they say too many cooks spoil the broth. well sajid, guess too many inspirations spoilt your script. all those adaptations led to one huge mess of a movie that should best be described as nything but a laugh riot.

sorry sajid, it did make us laugh at times but this HOUSEFULL was never meant to be housefull.

My rating:2.5/5

Until next time
