MOVIE REVIEW:HOUSEFULL

With an impressive line up of talented actors, this movie was expected to set the cash registers ringing. But sajid khan seems to have gone distastrously wrong with the plot ending up with something that doesnt even come close to satisfying the LAUGH RIOT tag it carries.

Guess Sajid khan ended up watchin too many movies while writing this movie's script cos there are so many scenes that seemed to have been borrowed from english, hindi and tamil(there could be a lot more :P ) movies. hell, its so difficult to list the movies, there are so many of them.
here's just a few.

1. the monkey slapping scene which is an unabashed copy of the scene between DEXTER( a capuchian monkey) and LARRY DALEY(Ben Stiller) in "NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM"

2.K Jo style gay jokes during the 2nd half which after a point of time gets on ur nerves. so lame.

3. last but not the least, the entire plot is a rip off of a yesteryear tamil superhit, KAADHALA KAADHALA(not sure of the name but it had kamal, prabhu deva, soundarya and rambha in the lead roles) with kamal in the lead which was a blockbuster(probably akshay kumar should consult some of his tamilian friends before he signs a movie, cos of late, almost all have been rip offs of kamal haasan films, first KAMBAKHT ISHQ, now HOUSEFULL and the sad thing is, he thinks they are all original stories)

The movie, too be frank is pretty lame. Boman Irani(as Batuk Patel) and
Chunkey Pandey(as Aakhri Pasta) do their best to irritate you with their loud banter that are supposed to pass off as dialogues. The characters of santa and banta in the end are disgusting, god knows what sajid was thinking when he wrote the script. y do u have to embarass indians like this.

Jiah khan's role in the movie, though important, offers her no scope at all. her total screen time in the movie is approx 18 seconds, 10 seconds of which go off in a slow motion shot off her walking down the beach in a bikini. pretty lame jiah, u could have easily passed off the role to some junior artiste instead of embarrassing yourself in a role that doesnt even qualify as a cameo. :P

The only saving grace of the movie was off course Deepika's on screen presence(oh i jus love her!!!). The others have also done their part well, akshay kumar, riteish deshmukh, lara dutta and arjun rampal(must add, he was brilliant as Major Krishna Rao) all chipping in with fine performances but there was little they could do with a script as mundane as this.

they say too many cooks spoil the broth. well sajid, guess too many inspirations spoilt your script. all those adaptations led to one huge mess of a movie that should best be described as nything but a laugh riot.

sorry sajid, it did make us laugh at times but this HOUSEFULL was never meant to be housefull.

My rating:2.5/5

Until next time

Adios!!!!!
