OF THE SKY AND THE SEA, A LOVE STORY

Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences and penetrates walls to spread its wings. The tale of the sky and the sea is no different.

When the world was created, there were only 3 forces.. The wizened old EARTH. The all powerful SUN, and the intermediate, the WIND. The SKY was the sun’s offspring while the EARTH had a beautiful daughter- the SEA.

The SKY and the SEA were still in the flush of their youth. They both liked each other, the SKY especially was head over heels in love with her. The SEA, though in love, wasn’t ready to accept the fact. “we would never make a pair. let’s just be good friends” she said. And she left..

The friendship blossomed but the love and the chemistry was still there. The SKY tried again but the SEA turned it down. “look how far we are from each other. We would never make a pair. Let’s just be good friends” she said.

By now the SKY was enraged beyond words. “Why? Why not” he asked. But the SEA simply repeated her words. “but why?” repeated the SKY. But she never listened. And with that the SEA left, never again showing up.

The SKY was devastated. For 3 months after that, the SKY remained gloomy sending down huge torrents of rain, upsetting the natural balance of life on earth. The people went to EARTH, the wizened old king and told him of their sorrows. EARTH immediately called upon the WIND, the traveler, the only one of the generals who could travel between the earth and the sky.

The next day, WIND met prince SKY and enquired him about his recent change in attitude. The Sky opened up to his good old friend, the WIND. “LOVE” he said. “IT IS LOVE MY FRIEND.” The SKY then went on to explain his complicated relationship with the SEA. “And with this rain, I am trying to fill up that space between her and me” he said.

“So she says she cannot love you because of the distance that separates you. Don’t you worry my friend, the problem is solved!” with that, the WIND whispered something into the SKY’s ear. Satisfied with what he had just heard, the SKY stopped the rains.

The SEA and the SKY eventually became a pair.

Down below on earth, the writer of this post sat on the shore of a beach, pondering over the sudden change of events. What was it that the wind had said that had convinced the SEA to change her mind? Just then, a whiff of breeze caught the loose ends of his shirt and gently tugged it. He turned around to find WIND sitting on an upturned boat quite close to where the writer was sitting.

“Oh wise WIND, what was it that u said that made SEA change her mind?” asked the writer.

A smile spread across WIND’S face. “nothing much” he said . I just told her that love has a solution to all problems in life. Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.

The distance between u and the sky is nothing but a barrier built in your own mind. Learn to look past the barrier, learn to turn blind to the standards layed down by time, let love lead you and you will realize how beautiful life would become”

With that he pointed his finger in the direction of the sea.

And there, the writer saw what the WIND had meant.
