With the release of "BOSS ENGIRA BASKARAN", a kollywood flick starring arya, nayantara and santhanam among others, one thing that has been spreading faster in tamil nadu than the swine flu epidemic are the two words "NANBAEN DA". A pretty good topic to blog about na, considering how much popular the phrase has become.
so here it goes, my special blogpost, dedicated to my friends at srm, india's no 1 private university. NANBAEN DA!!!!!
Though not always meeting with success, i've always enjoyed the beauty of life and the utmost unpredictability of it, the paths we dream of but the paths we end up travelling. my life is no different. Those two years at veltech were life-changing years for me. i will never forget the place and the people for sure. but at SRM, it was a completely different experience. two weeks into my first year and i knew straight away that i was in for 4 yrs of fun(well, if all goes well, it would stay at 4, i definitely dont want to do a veltech encore again.. guess 6 yrs of engg is more than enough ;P )
Fun i say because the people i met and bonded with were such great people, fun loving, extremely stupid(of course, like me), extremely supportive and caring beyond limits. when u are put into a bunch like this, why wouldn't u find life enjoyable.
Well, there seem to be so many ppl contributing to my happiness that i felt i had to include bits of info about everyone.
starting off,
1. a senior, my most favouritest one at that, sweet, cute and charming, the one without whom late night convos and blogging would have never become a part of me,
2. an akka who seems to see only the BEST in me, an akka so patient, she takes my life history( :P ) as an inspiration, an akka so kind, she introduced me to her sis! :P :P :D
3.crazy bones, wat can i say, a friend who's been a pillar of support through all my tough times and the subject of my through all my good times, a friend so dumb, she prepares STUDY MATERIAL( ;P ) for the exam at 2 am and forgets to take them to the exam the next day, but a friend who's care knows no bounds.
4. blessed with super model looks and a brain that focusses 92% of its grey cells on securing a 9 point something gpa, the remaining 8% of course goes towards shopping, shopping in particular for anything that glitters( the MICROMAX BLING, the ENGAGEMENT RING and what not ;D ) cute, charming and with an email id that says it all, that's my FASHION ICON for u.
5. 6 foot something. toned muscles, smart looks but he comes with the heart and maturity of a 5 yr old. funny, but in a good sort of way. a great friend.
6. a friend who once stood for comic timing and epic one liners that used to scare the living daylights out of me(well becos i usually ended up becomin the subject of his jokes), a friend who gave me the best ramzan treat of my life. a friend who has become quite BUSY nowadays. ;D
7. cute, chubby and with a love for anything made of ghee, a friend who instilled in me the love for murukku sandwiches.
8. a friend everyone in our gang fears, a friend who's only aim is to torture u into submission, a friend who settles at nothin but a 9 point gpa score, presenting to u the chairman and founder of ASSET(a society dedicated to sadistic pleasures and endless torture ;P )
9. it started off with mr.prabhakaran in 1st sem, its mr.satish now in 3rd sem, 5 more sems remain, i wonder how many heads are gonna roll, he is the vice chairman and only other member of ASSET.
10. a friend who's relationship status always seems to remain at "IN A RELATIONSHIP AND ITS COMPLICATED", a friend who's got hopes of getting into a major core company(and i know that he will) but at present, all he's got is a loan amount weighing around 12 lakhs. ;P
11. a friend who loves ferrying us around campus in his logan, a friend who sticks to "STRICTLY ONLY PROTEIN" diets, be it lassi or the chappati jam he brings to coll(which reminds me, is either chapathi or jam protein rich?!? :P ), a friend who's current aim is on completing his stipulated 7 and half yrs( the one god stipulates unto all ;D ) and getting one of those beauties from the ROYAL ENFIELD stables.. ;D
12. 6 foot 3, he comes equipped with a love for drumming and growling(!!!?!?) and an inclination towards music that has the capacity to cause ur eardrums to self destruct, a friend who loves listening to classicl music, classical english music i mean ;D, a friend who's got the pet with the strangest name. :P
13. a friend who speaks his mind, very open and very innocent, with a love for sketching and self photography, a friend who the giant i mentioned above loves calling "THE SATANIST". ;D
14. a friend who i once thought was gonna be my best buddy for the entirety of my stay at india's no 1 private university but a friend who i unfortunately lost touch with,. we might not be in the best of contacts rite now, but i'll always say that our friendship was definitely something special, though dormant, i hope we always stay by each other.
15. I was saving the best for the last, a friend who crossed the ocean to come study at india's no 1 private university, a person i got into touch with quite reluctantly but a person who has bloomed out into one of my greatest buddies now.
15 great individuals, 15 great friends.
Forgive me if i have missed out on my other buddies here. for example, my stop mates, the bong, the king and junior umar, this is just the first part of a series that is gonna span over my stay here in this funny little world of ours.
lots more to come.
love u all
NANBAEN DA!!!!! :)

SMS PICK OF THE WEEK
One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do..
Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to becovered up anyway; It just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey. He invited all his neighbours to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement he quietened down.A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up.As the farmer's neighbours continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up.Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!
Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a stepping stone.. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up.
Remember the five simple rules to be happy:
Free your heart from hatred - Forgive.
Free your mind from worries - Most never happen.
Live simply and appreciate what you have.
Give more.
Expect less
Follow these five golden rules and there will never come a time where u will regret life.
Life is beautiful, love it, live it.
Keep smiling,
Until next time,
Adios!!!

A SATURDAY AT SRM, INDIA'S NO 1 PRIVATE UNIVERSITY
There they go again, SRM, India's no 1 private university. Instead of asking me to come and complete the lab exercises during lunch hour(considering which i would have finished all the experiments in a week), they make me come to college on a saturday, ya, a S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y!!!!!
My first thought was, what the eff, i am gonna be all alone in a 250 acre campus on a non working day with only about 24 different machines and a couple of humans(in simpler terms, the lab assistants) for company. but boy was i in for a shock when i arrived at the college gates, for the university campus that i had so expected to be empty was teaming with life.
I made my way to the machine shop, still in surprise as to why there was so much activity in campus(for a second, i did think there was some cinema shooting going on, but one closer, and i realised that there were actually professors, my very own professors, walking past me!!!). The lab assistants solved my doubt, it seems there are classes on saturdays and sundays for a part time b.tech course at SRM, India's no 1 private university. oh, the poor souls. :P
The day went off pretty well from there. Lab assistants i had not even given a second thought till then turned into amazing companions, each one revealing their true nature, calm, friendly and eager to help, well probably because rite then, there was only one 20 yr old brat to deal with.. :P :D
But it was definitely a very very new experience for me. Having been to labs till now only with my age group students(well ok, age groups with a tolerance of + or - 3 yrs :P ), it was a completely different experience to be working with a bunch of 35-40 yr olds, all professionals working in major companies in and around chennai, a group of people that concentrated more on the surface finish and accuracy of the work piece(considering their work experience, they were spot on most of the time), but at the same time, a group of pople that found it difficult to decipher the answer for 0.5 divided by 50. :D
As i was saying, it was a completely different experience. A campus that i had known so well for the past 15 months, a campus that i had seen overflowing with 20 yr olds was suddenly filled with 35-40 year olds, . A completely different experience, but a good one at it.
Love it or hate it, SRM, India's no 1 private university is truly

HITTING THE RIGHT NOTES
Those one off days are rare, those days when u seem to be having max fun, well, today was definitely one of them.
An afternoon capped with food, 7 different varieties of them and an evening of fun thanks to cousin bro dearest, well i jus couldnt have asked for anythin more.
Well to be frank, the day started off on a rather low note, a power cut meant i stayed in bed for an extra half hour. :P :D but then things did change for the good. An amazingly good and intense gym session followed by some very good breakfast seemed to suggest i was hitting the right notes today.
And then came the food, so much of it that we got full just looking at it. :D :P arvind and abi lasted a little over 10 mins and the others a shade above 45. i carried on for about a hour and 15 mins but adi and karthi "KAPPI PRAAS" prakash kept going on and on and on. dont think i am exaggerating but those two were still eating when i decided to head back home. :D
And if the food wasnt enough 3 hrs of quality time with cousin bro dearest is sure to cap things off. ya ya, my 2 yr old bro was at his naughtiest best today and when kids are in this mode, its definitely entertainment guaranteed.
Its nearly midnight rite now and am still awake, typing away furiously on my page. well if this isn't enough proof of how good my day was, then wat else is.
Hoping to have many more happy ones like today.
And yeah, before i sign off, here's a snap of my liitle bro.
A little clue as to what "destruction" he is capable of. ;P :D
Keep smiling, Keep laughing
until next time,
ADIOS!!!!!

SMS PICK OF THE WEEK
Mind blowing attitude:
Famous tennis star Arthur Ashe died of cancer.
when he was asked whether he wouldn't feel bad to die, he said
" THERE ARE 6 BILLION PEOPLE.
2 MILLION TRY TO PLAY TENNIS.
I MILLION LEARN.
50000 BECOME PROFFESIONALS.
AMONG THEM, ONLY 128 ARE SELECTED FOR WIMBLEDON.
4 FOR THE SEMIS AND 2 FOR THE FINALS.
ONLY ONE WINS.
WHEN I WAS ON THAT VICTORY STAND, I DIDNT ASK GOD
"WHY ME?"
" WHY SHOULD I ASK NOW?"
that's attitude!!!
Now i normally end my SMS PICK posts with a conclusion of my own. but i feel it is quite unnecessary for this particular one, the post says it all.
Arthur Ashe, u were the epitome of optimism and positivity,
truly brilliant!!!
cheers.
and until next time,
ADIOS!!!!!
